September 16th is the Investors Group “Day of Action” against child cancer

On Friday, September 16th, Investors Group offices across Atlantic Canada will hold a series of community events inviting the public to join them in their fight against child cancer.

At any given time in Canada there are over 10,000 children dealing with the effects of cancer, with 1,700 new cases diagnosed annually. Coast to Coast Against Cancer is a non-profit organization that provides programs and funding to support survivorship programs to help those children deal with their disease and the side-effects of the treatment they receive. In the 1950’s less than 10% of children diagnosed with cancer were able to be saved. Now, over 70% of children diagnosed in Canada beat cancer, though the fight is hard and there are often extreme challenges that remain with them for the rest of their lives. An example of the support offered by Coast to Coast is their financial support of child oncology camps, where children undergoing cancer treatment can experience the joys of a summer camp while still receiving proper medical care.

For one day the communities of Atlantic Canada will join together in one massive fund-raising effort for this worthy cause. The Investors Group Day of Action will feature a variety of events from every corner of Atlantic Canada including family picnics, barbecues, bike rides, indoor stationary bike events and more.
